#154: The Cost Of Making Your Own Broccoli Sprouts #2

2 min read

After I was writing in #152: The Cost Of Making Your Own Broccoli Sprouts about comparing the cost of growing your own sprouts and buying broccoli supplement I was researching about Broccoli Rabe Seeds which I bought recently because my last supply of Broccoli Seeds were empty. I found out that Broccoli rabe isn’t related to broccoli at all. Also it doesn’t have a significant amount glucoraphanin (the precursor to sulforaphane).

Thats why I tried to find real broccoli sprouts, but couldn’t find any available for delivery right now. So I researched again for cheaper supplements and found this one here and this one here, both for a supply of 50mg of sulforaphane with an amount of around caps for 3 months for around $30 (Keep in mind these are brands from germany, so maybe not available in your country. Could be also the reason why these are so much more cheaper than the ones mentioned in this post here). Thats a little bit more expensive than the sprouting seeds for ~$17.20 (which leads to a supply of around 2 1/2 months), but I save at least 1h a day because of not needing to rinse the seeds and clean the utensils. So since time is very important to me and normal broccoli seeds are not available right now I will go for the supplements for now.
